Entertaining Your Parrot
Being the highly intelligent creatures they are, our parrots can become easily bored, especially if we have to leave the house for unimportant reasons (to the parrot), like work.
To ease the risk of boredom it’s important that parrots have toys to chew up, swing on, and fight to the death (of the toy).
However, it may be that you’ve run out of money (again) for suitable toys. Lucky for us the internet can help. YouTube offers numerous videos suitable for the innocent gaze of our parrots while we’re out. Some videos are just scenic walks, others are devoted to specific species of parrot or genres of music, while others show numerous species doing what parrots do in the wild: looking for food, chewing things, preening, and working out minor disputes.
This is a forest walk in Finland.

The videos show the birds being birds in their natural environments. In many videos no music is being played. Often the music is calming.
These videos are produced by individuals, rescues, and other organizations. Be aware that most of these videos show commercials, so don’t let your parrot have the credit card. Just in case.
It has been suggested that you limit your bird’s tv viewing to two hours a day, which leaves a lot of time to fill before you get home from the office. Here again, plenty of toys are advisable.
