The Story of Boo

The Story of Boo The Cockatoo

“Boo is a 40-year-old cockatoo. Twenty years ago, he made the news after being rescued in a police raid. He was found caged with his mate, who had passed away from starvation. Because of his aggression, he was deemed unadoptable.”

It’s hard to imagine a more heartbreaking start. But Boo’s story didn’t end there.

A woman named Nedra saw past the label. She took Boo in, gave him love, and kept him safe for the next 20 years. Though his diet wasn’t ideal—lots of processed foods—he became, as she described, “the most loving bird you will ever know.”

Now that Nedra is in her 70s, she made the thoughtful decision to rehome Boo while she was still able to help choose the right family. Boo is now almost blind from cataracts, but his new caregivers are doing everything they can to make sure he has the best quality of life possible.

“We’re providing the best of the best with nutrition... and adding Bird Street Bistro to his diet is part of that plan.”

A Fresh Start, One Bowl at a Time

Boo recently tried Bird Street Bistro’s Tropical Blend for the first time—and he didn’t hold back.

“He absolutely annihilated it!”

For a bird who spent much of his life in survival mode, a healthy, nourishing meal is more than just food. It’s part of the healing process. It’s care, in every bite.

Good News: Boo Can See Again

There’s one more update that makes this story even more special:

“His cataract surgery was successful—he can now see for the first time in over 10 years! He still loves that tropical Bird Street Bistro :-)”

Stories like Boo’s are why Bird Street Bistro exists. We believe every bird deserves nutritious meals made with real, wholesome ingredients. Whether they’re young, aging, or starting over—good food makes a difference.
